Permaculture Principles
Permaculture is a design system based on ethics and principles which can be used to establish, design, manage and improve all efforts made by individuals, households and communities towards a sustainable future.

- David Holmgren, co-originator of the permaculture concept.

Permaculture is a practical approach to the problems facing our society based on the simple philosophy of "think global, act local."  It is as relevant to inner city courtyards and surburban backyards as it is to broad acre farming. It's all about finding creative solutions to living a more sustainable life by growing local organic food, reducing energy consumption, recycling our wastes and creating habitat for other life around us.

Integrating an edible kitchen garden into your daily life is an important step in understanding your place in the environment. It's not just that growing your own herbs, vegies and fruit is good for your health and your household budget, it also gives you a direct experience of your connection to the earth.

If you look after and nurture the plants in your garden, they will return and repay that care by nurturing and nourishing you and family. That's what caring for the environmment is really about.
